MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR TUESDAY: CHASE SHERMAN NOW FACES DMITRY POBEREZHETS AT UFC 211

As I reported yesterday on Twitter, heavyweight Chase Sherman has stepped up on short notice to confront Dmitry Poberezhets at UFC 211 next month in Dallas. Sherman (9-3) replaces the wounded Jarjis Danho in this fight and will be hunting for his first UFC victory. The 27-year-old has gone 0-2 in the UFC, losing back-to-back conflicts against Justin Ledet and many recently Walt Harris in UFC Fight Night 103 in January.
Meanwhile, the Poberezhets (24-5-1) makes his promotional and North American debut on the heels of a 15-fight unbeaten series. The Ukrainian fighter hasn’t lost a fight since 2012.

UFC releases Michael Graves after 2016 domestic violence arrest
UFC officials announced Monday the welterweight Michael Graves (6-0-1) has been released from the advertising after being detained in October 2016 for domestic violence. Here’s an official announcement from the UFC:
In November 2016, welterweight Michael Graves was removed from his UFC bout after his arrest in Fulton County, Florida. As a possible breach of the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy, the UFC company temporarily barred Graves from competition pending the conclusion of a third party evaluation. Dependent on the findings of the thorough inspection and investigation, UFC has suggested Graves he has been released from his contract effective immediately. UFC requires all athletes to act in an ethical and responsible manner, as evidenced from the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. UFC holds its athletes to the maximum standard and will continue to take appropriate action when and if warranted.
